The 1st Warsaw Armoured Brigade has introduced an innovative training course dedicated to FPV drones, with a special focus on their assembly.

As part of the program, soldiers are gaining not only piloting skills but also hands-on experience in building, customizing, and repairing these unmanned aerial vehicles, according to Defence24.

“Flying a drone is one thing, but the ability to independently assemble, modify, and maintain it takes skills to the next level,” the brigade emphasized.

According to the brigade, the course includes both theoretical lessons and practical training.

Participants acquire the knowledge needed to independently assemble FPV drones and adapt them for specific combat missions.

FPV drones are relatively simple technical devices that stand out for their effectiveness due to low cost and versatile applications.

These drones are usually built from readily available market components and can serve as either reconnaissance or strike devices.

The popularity of FPV solutions is growing due to their effectiveness and lack of alternatives. In situations where artillery ammunition is scarce or modern aviation is unavailable, FPV drones enable the destruction of targets with high precision and minimal cost.

At the same time, this technology has its limitations. FPV drones are sensitive to weather conditions, have limited flight range, and are prone to losing connection due to electronic warfare systems.

Despite these challenges, the introduction of such courses in the Polish Armed Forces demonstrates adaptation to the new demands of modern warfare.

Whether FPV drones become a permanent part of the Polish mechanized forces’ arsenal or remain an additional tool, mastering them will enhance the combat capabilities of the units.

The topic of FPV drones in Poland is also related to fortifications. Fortifications built as part of the Eastern Shield project along the Polish-Russian border are already being equipped with nets designed to counter FPV drones.
