In Colombia, a helicopter with police officers onboard crashed as a result of a drone attack.

Anadolu reported on this.

According to authorities, 12 law enforcement officers have been confirmed dead, and five others were injured, all of whom were aboard the Black Hawk.

The crash occurred on August 21 in the rural area of the Amalfi municipality in the Antioquia department.

Search and rescue operations continue in the area where the helicopter fell.

The Governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, reported that the downed police helicopter, which was ensuring the safety of personnel involved in the manual destruction of coca crops, was attacked by a drone.

Authorities have blamed the attack on the 36th Front of the Estado Mayor Central, a group linked to the former Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

Colombian security forces continue operations in the region to investigate the circumstances of the crash and apprehend those responsible.
