Lockheed Martin has stated that it currently cannot provide specific delivery dates for PAC-3 MSE anti-ballistic missiles for Patriot air defense systems to US allies, despite plans to triple production.
Brian Dunn, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development for the company’s missile division, stated this, according to the Financial Times.
He assured that the company is making significant efforts to ramp up production of the critically important PAC-3 interceptor missiles amid a shortage that has worsened due to the US war against Iran.
At the same time, in comments to journalists at the ILA Berlin Air Show, he delivered disappointing news to US allies—including Germany, Japan, Poland, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia—that use the Patriot air defense system.
Dunn also noted that the additional production capacity “will clearly be able to meet the needs of many users in a shorter timeframe,” but pointed out that Lockheed Martin does not control how these missiles are distributed.
“We do not control the distribution of these missiles. We cannot tell anyone where you will be on this (priority list — ed.) […] Obviously, there is a lot of rhetoric coming from the Pentagon right now about how they plan to reorganize and who will receive the missiles first. We have no control over any of this,” he said.
In April 2026, the US government awarded Lockheed Martin a $4.76 billion contract to produce and deliver PAC-3 MSE interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
This order is a continuation of the framework agreement announced by the Pentagon in January of this year. Under the agreement, the company agreed to increase missile production from 650 per year to 2,000 by 2033.
Lockheed Martin has already ramped up production from 380 units in 2023 to a record 620 in 2025. The company has exceeded its contractual obligations by investing in production lines and plans to reach 750 units by 2027.
At the same time, Boeing and the Pentagon have also signed a 7-year agreement to expand production of homing heads (HHS) for PAC-3 missiles.
Under the agreement with the US Department of Defense, Boeing and Lockheed Martin immediately began ramping up production.
Boeing has already invested over $200 million since 2024 in expanding production capacity for HGS manufacturing in Huntsville.
