Drones Attack Taganrog Airbase

Ukrainian drones attacked the military airfield in Taganrog.

This is evidenced by data from NASA’s FIRMS monitoring service.

The attack on the airfield took place overnight on September 6–7, 2026. According to the service’s data, a fire was detected at 2:44 a.m. in the aircraft parking lot.

The airfield is located approximately 40 km from Ukraine’s state border, at coordinates 47.2450, 38.8496.

The Russian military actively uses the airbase. The 325th Aviation Repair Plant (military unit 23213), which specializes in renovating transport aircraft and Il-76 units, is located there.

The Taganrog Aviation Plant shares the airfield with a military unit of the 5th Aviation Group.

Due to the facility’s proximity to Ukraine, Ukrainian forces have repeatedly targeted the plant’s territory and the airfield itself.

South of this airbase is the factory airfield of the PJSC Beriev Aircraft Company.

The facility repairs and upgrades A-50U AEW&C aircraft, Il-76 transport aircraft, and Il-38 patrol aircraft. It also upgrades and services aircraft operated by foreign customers.

In December 2024, the aircraft manufacturing and repair plant was targeted in a combined attack.

At the time, reports indicated that the strike took place at around 4 a.m. Some Russian media outlets claimed that ATACMS ballistic missiles and Palianytsia drone-missiles were used in the attack.

The plant had previously been attacked in March 2024.

Militarnyi previously reported that after a drone threat was declared in Russia’s Rostov region, a fire broke out at the Millerovo airbase, where the 31st Fighter Aviation Regiment, operating Su-30SM aircraft, is based.
