In less than 3 days, the volunteers raised funds to buy 5,000 FPV drones for the Ukrainian military.
The press service of the Come Back Alive Foundation reported on this.
The fundraiser was part of the Operation Unity 2: New Year’s Salute project.
This is a joint initiative of the Come Back Alive Foundation, UNITED24 and monobank.
As part of the fundraiser, which was launched on December 13, responsible business and Ukrainian society raised more than UAH 226,000,000.
The project will purchase 5,000 FPV drones and ammunition. Of these, 3,000 drones will be equipped with special thermal imaging cameras for night vision.
Unmanned combat aerial vehicles with thermal imaging sensors will enable the Ukrainian military to conduct operations at night and destroy enemy vehicles and infantry in any conditions.
Each drone will be equipped with a standardized warhead produced by the Ukrainian industry: HEAT and High-Explosive incendiary warhead to destroy manpower.
This will greatly simplify maintenance and training for the use of drones and save the military from possible accidents.
The team of the Come Back Alive Foundation is already working on the purchase and delivery of the FPV drones to the army as soon as possible.
The drones will be distributed among the soldiers who are defending Ukraine in the flash points.
Drones with thermal imaging optical devices are somewhat more expensive than their mass-produced counterparts. This allows drone operators to effectively hit targets at night. They typically use relatively cheap commercially available Chinese thermal imaging cameras that cost around $300.
In addition, FPV drones with thermal imaging cameras, under the control of skillful operators, can be extremely effective during nighttime attacks.
