The Ministry of Defense has codified and approved the use of a device for countering aerial drones, the “anti-drone pistol.”

The news was published on the defense ministry’s website.

The “anti-drone pistol” is positioned as a means of individual protection for military personnel against enemy FPV drones by radio-electronic suppression of the drone’s control channel.

It has already appeared on the Brave1 Market military marketplace, where it can be purchased for ГUAH 85,000 or for accumulated “ePoints,” which can be earned by destroying enemy infantry and equipment.

According to the published specifications, the device can create interference at 700-1000 MHz frequencies with an output power of 50 W. The claimed jamming range is 100 meters, and the uninterrupted operation time is 60 minutes.

The device is compact, weighs just over 1 kg, and is manufactured in a monolithic form factor.

It should be noted that the specified radio frequency interference frequencies do not cover the entire frequency range of FPV drone control. For example, Russian operators also actively use lower ranges of 290–340 MHz or higher ranges of 950–1100 MHz. Accordingly, these drones will be immune to the Anti-Drone Gun.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military is introducing net launchers in the form of compact pistols as a means of self-defense and physical counteraction against kamikaze drones.

In particular, during basic training for recruits in March, the military demonstrated a net launcher pistol from the Ukrainian Ptashka Drones company.

This device fires a net with a diameter of 3.5 m by 3.5 m at a distance of up to 30 meters. The maximum net spread is 15 meters.

Militarnyi published a report with the developers of this system, who talked about the features of their device and the nuances of its use.

In addition to the aforementioned FPV drones, conventional Chinese Mavic 3 drones equipped with an ammunition drop system cause no less damage on the battlefield. They operate on different frequencies and are poorly suited for interception by a net gun. Developing a suitable compact electronic warfare device could solve this problem for the military.
