Ukrainian tactical aviation executed a bombing strike on a Russian troop concentration in the village of Kozinka in Russia’s Belgorod region, according to video released by the Sonyashnyk Telegram channel.
The footage captures a MiG-29 fighter jet deploying two French-made AASM Hammer precision-guided bombs.
The video captures the bombs penetrating the roof of a building and detonating inside, destroying the shelter and personnel.
The WarArchive project identified the target as a building located in the center of Kozinka.
On June 13, Ukraine’s Air Force used a MiG-29 to strike two Russian targets near Novozlatopil in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The targets included a hangar storing ammunition and fuel, and a facility reportedly used by drone operators.
On June 8, Ukrainian forces released footage of a MiG-29 conducting a high-precision strike on Russian infantry and ammunition depots in southern Ukraine. The video shows a detonation inside a building, followed by a secondary explosion at a nearby depot.
The AASM, also known as Hammer, is a French guidance kit that converts conventional bombs into precision weapons.
Unlike U.S.-made JDAMs, the AASM features a built-in rocket motor that extends its range, up to 15 km when released from low altitude and up to 70 km from high altitude.
There are two primary variants: the Hammer-250, used with 227-kg Mk.82 bombs, and the Hammer-1000, for 908-kg Mk.84 bombs.
The guidance kits support multiple targeting systems, including inertial, GPS, laser, and infrared.
In four months, French defense company Safran adapted the AASM kits for Ukraine’s Soviet-era MiG-29s and Su-25s.
Since 2023, France has delivered several hundred of the kits to Ukraine.
In 2024, Safran increased production by 40%, delivering 830 units. The company has said it can double output if demand rises.
