Greece has approved the transfer of 13 tracked M113 armored personnel carriers to Lebanon.

According to Defence24, the Greek government responded positively to a request for assistance submitted by Lebanese President Michel Aoun.

Lebanon will receive a batch of M113 armored personnel carriers from Greece.

The delivery timeline has not been disclosed.

This is the latest tranche of military aid to Lebanon, which in recent months has already received equipment from several countries. Notably, Jordan is set to transfer additional 62 M113 vehicles.

In addition, France has delivered wheeled VAB armored personnel carriers to Lebanon.

The M113 remains the backbone of the Lebanese Armed Forces’ armored fleet. According to the annual publication The Military Balance, the country has around a thousand of these vehicles in service, although the exact number of operational units is unknown.

In addition to the M113 in its A2, A3, and M577 variants, the Lebanese army also operates former Belgian AIFV-B-C25 infantry fighting vehicles, which are built on the same chassis.
