Russia has suffered another loss of combat aircraft – a Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter crashed.

The incident was reported by Russian propagandist Fighterbomber, who published an emotional post.

Another Russian propaganda outlet, Voyevoda Veshchayet, reported that two ‘experienced’ pilots were killed. The Ministry of Defence of Russia has not commented on the situation, and there is no public information about the crash site or the circumstances of the incident.

The Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopter, developed by the Russian Kamov Experimental Design Bureau, is capable of detecting vehicles at a considerable distance thanks to an optoelectronic station installed in the nose of the hull.

It reaches speeds of up to 300 km/h and can conduct combat operations in difficult weather conditions and at any time of the day. It can conduct reconnaissance of the area and provide targeting and coordination of a group of combat helicopters.

The machine is capable of hitting armored and unarmored vehicles, manpower on the battlefield and being used as an air defense system. It was probably lost while repelling a night attack on Russian territory.

According to the Oryx OSINT project, Russia lost at least 50 Ka-52 helicopters, 14 more were damaged. The exact number of losses is currently unknown. Russia was able to repair some of the damaged aircraft using components from donor aircraft.
