On the Greek island of Crete, fishermen discovered a “sea mine” in a rocky coastal area.
The Greek media outlet Ekriti reported on this.
According to preliminary data, the dangerous object was found in the area of Saint Anthony in the north of the island.
After the discovery was reported, the coast guard and other services quickly arrived at the scene.
“Due to the possible presence of explosive materials, safety protocols were activated,” local publications report.
According to media reports, coast guard officials suggested that the “mine” may be of Ukrainian origin.
Greek authorities are currently determining whether it is an old piece of ordnance washed ashore or more recent explosives linked to activity in the Eastern Mediterranean region.
A similar incident, according to journalists, has been recorded before. Last year, a “sea mine” was discovered on the coast of the island of Rhodes.
On May 7, Greek fishermen also found a maritime drone near the southern part of the island of Lefkada in the Ionian Sea.
Greek authorities identified it as a Ukrainian Magura V3 maritime drone.
Subsequently, UFORCE, the manufacturer of these drones, informed Militarnyi that the surface vehicle found was not a Ukrainian Magura drone.
Despite this, Greece began demanding an apology from Ukraine over the maritime drone found off its coast, which they consider to be Ukrainian.
