Port workers at the French port of Marseille-Fos refused to load military equipment that was to be shipped to Israel.
The French non-governmental organization Disclose reported that the workers accuse Israel of massacring Palestinians.
The CGT Dockers trade union stated that one of the ships, which was to depart from the port of Marseille on Thursday, was to load machine gun parts manufactured at the local Eurolinks enterprise.
According to Christophe Claret, a representative of CGT Dockers, if the dockers refuse to load the goods, no one can do it for them.
Other containers destined for this vessel will be loaded.
“We are for peace and against all wars,” the union added, declaring its refusal “to participate in the genocide carried out by the Israeli government.”
The fact that Eurolinks produces parts for machine guns intended for Israel was reported back in 2024. At that time, French Defense Minister Sébastien Le Coronneu said that these parts could only be “re-exported” by Israel.
Judging by the photos released by the port workers, these are links in a belt for machine gun ammunition.
Eurolinks produces all types of links for 5.56 mm, 7.62 mm, 12.7 mm (.50 cal), 20 mm, 23 mm, 25 mm, 27 mm, 30 mm, and 35 mm caliber ammunition.
“Each of our links is specially designed for a specific weapon and ammunition, which ensures continuous fire and smooth ammunition feeding,” Eurolinks states.
The day before, it was announced that the Spanish Ministry of Defense had revoked the Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems’ licenses to produce SPIKE LR2 anti-tank missiles in Spain.
This is not the first such step by the leftist Spanish government: earlier, it canceled a €6.6 million deal to purchase 15 million rounds of ammunition from the Israeli company.
