An explosion was heard near the airport in Simferopol, after which a thick column of smoke rose into the sky.

The report comes from the Crimean Wind telegram channel.

At the same time, it is noted that the fire had started near the aviation fuel tanks located on the territory of the airport.

It should be noted that the Russian army has set up many locations of military equipment and air defense systems around the city of Simferopol, making them a legitimate target for the Ukrainian defense forces.

So far, there have been no official reports on the cause of the explosion.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the Ukrainian Navy had destroyed the Forpost drone base of Russian drones at the Khersones air base in the temporarily occupied Crimea.

This military airfield is located within the city of Sevastopol, on Cape Khersones.
