The Russians have developed a jet-powered version of the Garpiya strike drone.
This information came to light in a report by NTV, which was highlighted on the Telegram channel Colonel GSh.
The footage showed two different versions of the Garpiya jet drones—a transitional variant housed in a piston-engine fuselage (similar to the Geran-3) and a new version designed specifically for a jet engine.
The channel’s analysts note that production volumes of these UAVs are still small compared to the jet-powered Geran drones, which are being mass-produced by Alabuga.
“The Garpiya still has no mesh modems or cameras. Only INS + SNC and, occasionally, a laser sensor for air-to-air detonation,” said a source at ‘Colonel GSH.’
Previously, only the existence of the Garpiya-A1 piston-powered kamikaze drones, similar to the Geran-2, was known.
They are manufactured by the Russian company Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant Kupol.
In addition to the new jet-powered drones, the video also showed a Russian mobile launch platform mounted on a KamAZ-5350 truck chassis, designed to carry several drones at once.
This will allow the occupiers to launch attack drones from virtually any location without using drone ports or airfields, which are regularly attacked by the Ukrainian Defense Forces in an effort to reduce Russian strike capabilities.
Russia is promoting an export version of the Garpiya-A1 strike UAV on the international market under the designation Garpiya-A1E.
The manufacturer claims to have sufficient capacity to fulfill both domestic and export orders simultaneously.
In addition, it is prepared not only to export the drones but also to localize their production in countries friendly to Russia.
