The Eurofighter consortium has reached a new milestone, delivering over 600 Typhoon fighter jets to customers out of roughly 800 ordered.

This was reported in an official Airbus document.

According to the report, 613 Typhoons had been delivered as of September 2025, with a total order book of 761 aircraft, including recent contracts.

The total number of Typhoons in operation across partner nations and export customers also surpassed 600 units, reaching 606 as of September 2025.

The first production Typhoon flew in February 2003, with official entry into service for the German Air Force on August 4, 2003. Since then, Eurofighter has achieved some of the highest production rates for fourth-generation fighter jets in Europe.

Production is spread across four countries: Airbus in Manching, Germany, for the Luftwaffe; Airbus in Getafe, Spain; BAE Systems in Warton, UK; and Leonardo in Turin, Italy.

Annual production has varied between 5 and 60 aircraft, peaking in the 2010s, while output has remained steady in recent years. For example, 19 Typhoons were produced in 2021–2022.

Other European fighter jet production includes Dassault Aviation’s Rafale and Saab’s JAS 39 Gripen. Dassault launched Rafale production in 1992, delivering the first serial aircraft in 2002, reaching 300 aircraft by October 2025. Saab delivered the first JAS 39 Gripen to the Swedish Armed Forces on June 11, 1993, with service entry in 1996. The 200th Gripen was delivered in 2008, with total production to date around 250 aircraft.

European nations remain the largest Typhoon operators, with 585 aircraft ordered and 486 delivered as of September 2025. Major export customers are in the Middle East, totaling 136 aircraft:

  • Saudi Arabia — 73
  • Kuwait — 28
  • Qatar — 24
  • Oman — 12

The Airbus report is current as of September, but in October, Germany and Turkey placed new orders for 20 Typhoons each.

Germany ordered 20 Tranche 5 Eurofighters as part of a defense package exceeding €7 billion, approved by the Bundestag budget committee.

The deal includes 52 engines and spare parts, with deliveries from 2031 to 2034, funded by a special defense fund and the national budget.

On October 27, 2025, the UK and Turkey signed a $10 billion contract for 20 Eurofighter Typhoons.
