Poland has sent nearly $2 billion worth of weapons to Ukraine.

That sum includes more than 240 tanks and about 100 armored personnel carriers. President of Poland Andrzej Duda revealed this in a Bild interview.

“Almost two combat tank groups were provided to Ukraine by Poland. That’s more than 240 tanks that the Ukrainian army can service. We have sent almost a hundred armored personnel carriers,” Duda said.

Poland had also supplied Kyiv with small arms, ammunition, and military equipment.

Andrzej Duda called on the partners, who can provide Ukraine with long-range systems and rocket artillery, to do so. According to him, the transfer of such equipment would be an adequate response to Russia’s artillery and rocket attacks on Ukrainian cities.

“Ukraine’s response with heavy and rocket artillery is really the only countermeasure against the Russian offensive right now,” Duda noted.

The President of Poland also added that the Polish army is expecting to receive compensation from Western allies. Warsaw would like to receive American weapons of the latest generation within the framework of the lend-lease program.

They also expect help from Germany. Berlin has approved a compensation program. The Polish side expects to receive Leopard 2A4 tanks.

“We handed over our tanks and now we have nothing. We are currently negotiating new tanks. We have signed a contract with the United States for 250 new tanks. Our Minister of Defense was in South Korea to discuss the purchase of about 300 lighter South Korean tanks. We want to equip our army with advanced tanks. But the products will be delivered to us within a few years. If only we could have any number of old German tanks today to increase our security in the future,” Duda said.

However, as Duda mentioned, Berlin has yet to do anything in this direction.

As previously reported, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksii Reznikov said that the Polish AHS Krab self-propelled artillery gun-howitzers are ready for combat missions at the frontline.

It was announced that Poland had supplied 18 AHS Krab gun-howitzers to Ukraine.

In early June, it became known that Ukraine will sign an agreement to purchase about 60 AHS Krab 155-mm self-propelled artillery gun-howitzers. Part of the costs will be covered by the European Union.
