Strike drones attacked the port in the city of Novorossiysk, where Russian Navy ships are based.
This was reported by Russian media outlets.
The attack on the port took place on the night of January 10-11, 2025, when the drones attacked the port infrastructure, resulting in a massive fire.
According to a local publication, the city’s air defense systems were not working during the attack.
In total, more than seven hits were recorded at the port, as evidenced by a local resident’s comment in the video.
Following the active use of kamikaze drones by the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the Russian Navy attempted to relocate its surface and submarine fleets from Crimea to Novorossiysk.
Although the relocation partially complicated the hunt for Russian ships, it created new problems for the enemy, as it did not allow the loading of Kalibr cruise missiles onto the surface vessels.
In early November, Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, stated on air during a telethon that the resumption of Kalibr loading capabilities had proved that Russian troops had adapted to the new conditions.
“From the fact that the enemy used surface ships, we can conclude that the occupiers have solved the problem of loading Kalibrs on board,” he noted.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that in mid-September 2024, the Russians had installed a GPS jamming complex near the port of Gelendzhik in Novorossiysk.
Information from the automatic identification system (AIS) used in civilian shipping was used for the analysis. During the analysis of the AIS system, it was noticed that the location of the Russian ships had differed from their actual location.
Also, Russia has repeatedly withdrawn ships from Novorossiysk, but after a while they returned to the port again.
In early June 2024, it was already withdrawing a large group of ships from Novorossiysk. At that time, large landing ships with a powerful escort left the port, where they had been hiding from Ukrainian attacks for a long time.
But at the time, a significant group remained in the port, including two frigates, a medium-sized reconnaissance ship, a small anti-submarine ship, a landing boat, a small missile ship, and one patrol ship.
Later, some of the ships that were then withdrawn from Novorossiysk were spotted in Sevastopol and the Sea of Azov.
