Member states of the International Drone Coalition have committed to providing €2.75 billion in funding for Ukraine in 2025.
The Latvian Ministry of Defense, which, in coordination with the United Kingdom, oversees the initiative’s operations, announced this.
As of the end of May, coalition members had collectively contributed approximately €180 million to the UK-led joint procurement fund for unmanned aerial systems.
This fund is intended for centralized drone procurement alongside the national support measures of each coalition member country.
It is noted that this year, Latvia plans to allocate €20 million for drone purchases within the coalition framework, as well as an additional €10 million for collaborative projects between Latvian and Ukrainian defense enterprises.
Latvian Defense Minister Andris Sprūds announced on Wednesday during the international Drone Coalition summit in Riga that Turkey and Belgium have expressed their intention to join the coalition.
“The international coalition is growing stronger — we will be able to deliver more drones to Ukraine while simultaneously strengthening the defense industries of Latvia, the European Union, and NATO countries. Our strength lies in unity, and adding new allies to the coalition will enable us to provide Ukraine with the crucial support it needs in its fight against the aggressor,” the Latvian Minister emphasized.
It should be noted that the coalition currently consists of 18 countries: Latvia, the United Kingdom, Australia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Estonia, Italy, New Zealand, Canada, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Germany, Sweden, and Ukraine.
The initiative aims to ensure the industrial production of drones and expand the unmanned systems industry to create an asymmetric technological advantage over the enemy on the battlefield, tailored to Ukraine’s needs.
Since the formation of the Drone Coalition on February 14, 2024, its member countries have provided significant support to Ukraine, totaling €1.8 billion in 2024 alone.
In March 2025, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that the Drone Coalition had allocated €20 million to procure reconnaissance UAVs for the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
These drones are currently a key component of intelligence operations in the frontline zone. Additionally, they are actively used for artillery fire adjustment and precision targeting to destroy enemy weapons and equipment.
