DeepState: Enemy Captured More Territory in July Than Ukrainian Defense Forces Reclaimed

In July, Russian forces captured more Ukrainian territory than the Ukrainian Defense Forces retook.

The OSINT project DeepState reported this.

According to DeepState’s map data, Russian forces advanced by a total of 36 square kilometers in July.

Due to delays in reporting the data, the actual increase in occupied territory could reach 88 square kilometers, as the July figures included 52 square kilometers of occupation recorded for May and June.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces reduced the area of occupied territory: 25 square kilometers were attributed to May, and 27 square kilometers to June.

Ukrainian forces have also advanced in two other areas, covering at least 49 km² and 83 km². More details will be released after an official announcement.

The delay in publishing these figures is due to operational security measures intended to ensure the successful completion of Ukrainian military operations.

The situation remains most difficult near Rodynske, Kostiantynivka, along the state border, and in the directions of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk.

It should be noted that despite recording the highest number of combat engagements since the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war – more than 7,000 – in May, Ukraine’s Defense Forces regained control of an area 120 km² larger than the territory captured by Russian forces.

During May, Russian forces took control of approximately 130 km² of territory, compared with 150–160 km² the month before.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Defense Forces regained control and eliminated Russian advances across an area of about 250 km², while in April they liberated 80 km².

As a result, the balance between lost and regained territory was approximately 120 km² in favor of the Ukrainian Defense Forces.
