Ukrainian defense company Beryl and Poland’s MISTA have begun jointly developing a new line of military vehicles based on the Oncilla armored platform.
Development Director of MISTA Oleksandr Leshchenko told this to Militarnyi during the Defence24Days exhibition.
Unlike some armored vehicles that are modified from commercial chassis, the Oncilla was purpose-built as an armored personnel carrier.
It features a load-bearing armored hull with the suspension and axles integrated inside the vehicle structure.
The platform weighs 10 tons and has a payload capacity of 2 tons.
This configuration allows for versatile adaptations. An evacuation vehicle and an artillery fire control variant have already been developed based on the Oncilla chassis.
Ongoing projects include a reconnaissance version and an engineering model equipped with a robotic manipulator.
MISTA, which has already delivered more than 200 vehicles to Ukraine and plans to supply another 100 Oncilla units, continues to enhance the platform.
In cooperation with Beryl, the companies have developed FPV drone protection nets and additional armor kits.
The Oncilla meets STANAG Level 2 protection standards, offering mine resistance in the event of a wheel or track detonation.
“We’ve had vehicles hit by explosive devices — some suffered severe damage, but not a single crew member was killed,” Leshchenko said.
A Ukrainian-developed armor upgrade enables Oncilla to reach STANAG Level 3 protection while maintaining mobility.
