Australia to Provide Ukraine With $45 Million in Military Equipment

Australia and Ukraine have signed a bilateral security agreement that lays the foundation for closer defense cooperation.

The announcement was published on the website of the Australian Prime Minister.

Under the agreement, Australia will provide Ukraine with an additional $60 million in aid and join the Maritime Capabilities Coalition.

“Ukraine’s battlefield experience, combined with its advanced defense industry, will provide valuable insights for Australia,” Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said.

Under the agreement, the Australian government will provide Ukraine with an additional $60 million in support.

Of the funding, $45 million will go toward military equipment from the Australian Defence Force, $10 million will be allocated to Ukraine’s Energy Support Fund, and another $5 million will be provided for humanitarian assistance.

This brings Australia’s total support for Ukraine to nearly $1.9 billion.

Australia will also join the Maritime Capabilities Coalition for Ukraine, which is led by the United Kingdom and Norway.

The move is expected to support the development of Ukraine’s navy while giving Australia an opportunity to gain experience with advanced maritime technologies.

Australia is also supporting Ukraine with drones. Two Australian companies have now joined forces to develop and produce Arrow interceptor drones for delivery to Ukraine.
