The Ukrainian operator, with the help of a drone that was developed by volunteers, destroyed the most modern Russian Т-90М tank.

The video of the operation was shared on social media.

The Russian tank was immobilized near the front line, presumably due to a hit from an anti-tank mine. According to the video, the crew left the tank after it was disabled.

After waiting until the evening, the operators of the R18 attack drone that was created by the Ukrainian organization “Aerorozvidka”, dropped several modified RKG-3 anti-tank grenades on the tank. That led to the detonation of the tank’s ammunition and the subsequent separation of the turret.

This is the eighth documented loss of a rare Russian Т-90М tank in Ukraine. The tank is produced in small series at the Russian UralVagonZavod tank plant.

The Russian army received the first batch of these tanks only in 2020. The first batch was transferred to the 2nd Guards Taman Motorized Rifle Division of the 1st Guards Tank Army.

Т-90М Proryv (object 188М) was developed as part of the R&D “Proryv-3” project and is an upgraded version of the Russian Т-90 main battle tank, which, in its turn, is an upgrade of the Soviet Т-72 tank.

These tanks received much higher armor protection due to a fundamentally new welded turret, the installation of anti-jamming screens, and the Relict dynamic protection system.

Fire resistance was increased by equipping the machine with an upgraded loading mechanism, which allows the use of more advanced ammunition.

The tank gunner also received a new multi-channel sight, allowing the use of weapons at any time of the day and in any weather condition.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces are currently the world’s second largest users of the most modern Russian tank, the T-90.

It is publicly known about at least two tanks (1 and 2) that were taken by the Ukrainian military as trophies during the war with Russia and are used against the invaders in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
