Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetall sign memorandum on joint venture

Ukroboronprom has signed a memorandum of cooperation with Rheinmetall, which provides for the possibility of creating a joint venture.

This was reported by the Ukroboronprom press service.

The signing ceremony took place on May 13 in Madrid. According to the agreement, the parties intend to start working together in the future, on the basis of separate agreements, to create production facilities in Ukraine for the manufacture of artillery ammunition.

Ukroboronprom CEO Oleh Hulyak emphasized that the full-scale war has demonstrated the critical need for artillery shells, and the existing production capacities are not able to fully meet it.

In such a situation, each new plant or production line becomes critical to supplying the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, Ukraine should use every opportunity to create such facilities.

Cooperation with Rheinmetall

Ukroboronprom and Rheinmetall already have successful experience of cooperation.

Back in October 2023, the parties announced the establishment of a joint venture specializing in the repair of Western military equipment.

In June 2024, the first workshop of this enterprise was opened. Its main task is currently to repair combat vehicles developed by Rheinmetall.

The launch of the site has significantly accelerated the process of restoring equipment and returning it to the front.

In the future, the company will also be able to launch the production of new military equipment directly in Ukraine.

This will strengthen the capabilities of the national defense industry and provide the army with modern Ukrainian-made weapons.
