The Ukrainian company UkrArmoTech has joined efforts to restore historic armored vehicles from the era of the First Liberation Struggle (1917-1921).
The company’s specialists have restored armored vehicles used by the Army of the Ukrainian People’s Republic over a century ago, as reported on the company’s social media accounts.
The exhibition of early 20th-century military vehicles is dedicated to the return of the commander of the Sich Riflemen, Colonel Yevhen Konovalets of the Ukrainian People’s Republic Army. The exhibition is open to visitors at the Mystetskyi Arsenal National Art and Culture Museum Complex in Kyiv.
One of the central exhibits is the Austin Series 2 armored car ‘Fedir Chernyk,’ named in honor of a centurion of the Sich Riflemen. During the time of the Ukrainian People’s Republic, it was in service with the armored car division of the Sich Riflemen Corps and was used in combat operations.
The project was initiated by Brigadier General Andrii Biletskyi, commander of the 3rd Army Corps. Thanks to his initiative, it was possible to organize the search for and restoration of armored vehicles that had long been considered lost.
During the restoration work, special attention was paid to preserving authenticity. Every element—from the selection of paint to the smallest spare parts—was restored with the goal of avoiding any traces of modern intervention in these historical artifacts.
The company’s specialists restored the armored vehicle’s performance and also restored its original early 20th-century cannon, returning it to its original condition.
