Ukrainian UNEX UGV Can Tow Artillery Guns and Vehicles Weighing Up to 10 Tonnes

The Ukrainian UNEX UGV can tow artillery guns and wheeled vehicles weighing up to 10 tonnes.

The project lead shared this in a video by Militarnyi.

According to him, the platform can carry ammunition and deliver it to the position along with the gun.

“The UGV can tow another wheeled vehicle weighing up to 10 tonnes. This could be a gun,” the project head said.

The UNEX UGV is a fully electric amphibious platform that can traverse off-road terrain and swamps and cross water obstacles. The manufacturer states a payload capacity of up to 1.7 tonnes on land and up to 1.25 tonnes in water. These figures refer to the load carried on the platform itself.

A separate module with a self-loading mechanism has been developed for transporting cargo. The operator drives the vehicle up to a container, after which a special hook secures it and a hydraulic system pulls it onto the platform. The vehicle can also unload the container at a designated location. The module is designed to carry approximately one tonne of cargo.

The vehicle has ultra-low-pressure tires that increase ground contact and help it move across soft terrain. According to the manufacturer, the platform can also overcome obstacles up to one meter high and get out of the water onto ice.

The system uses Starlink and radio communications for remote control. The software allows the operator to connect an escort drone, receive video feeds from the ground vehicle’s cameras, and monitor its movement from above.

If communications are lost, the vehicle can automatically retrace its route to points where the connection was still available.

The UNEX UGV is equipped with a 78 kWh battery. It has a stated operating time of up to three hours, maximum range of up to 120 km, and top speed of up to 20 km/h. Actual performance depends on the payload and terrain.

Beyond logistics tasks, the developers envisage using the platform with demining equipment and air defense systems. Its modular design allows the vehicle to adapt to various missions.

Militarnyi previously reported that Ukraine’s Defense Forces had codified and approved the UNEX UGV for use. The Ministry of Defense announced this in April 2025.
