Not only ground-based: Ukraine codifies amphibious UNEX UGV

Ukraine has codified and authorized the use of the UNEX UGV amphibious robotic system in the Defense Forces.

The Ministry of Defense announced this.

UNEX UGV is a remotely controlled self-propelled wheeled armored platform made in Ukraine.

The Defense Ministry notes that the platform is built on a special chassis that provides mobility in the most difficult conditions.

The platform can easily move through water, floodplains, swamp, mire, sand, difficult surfaces, and ice.

“The weight distribution between the axles and wide tires create a pressure on the surface that is less than an infantryman’s foot. Due to this, the platform does not activate mines designed to destroy vehicles and armored vehicles. During the demonstration, the armored amphibious vehicle drove over a ceramic plate and a coffee cup without damaging them,” the Defense Ministry reported.

It is stated that the wheeled platform can overcome water obstacles, fallen trees, large stones, and ditches. It can move out of water and onto ice. It works in difficult weather conditions at different temperatures.

The UNEX UGV is resistant to electronic warfare systems, has a reliable radio control system, a programmable autopilot, and powerful batteries, the defense ministry says.

The amphibious vehicle can be manufactured in various modifications – with a combat module, an electronic warfare system, for logistics, evacuation of the wounded, demining, etc.

Deputy Minister of Defense Valeriy Churkin stated that since the beginning of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine, nearly 80 domestically produced ground robotic systems have been codified and put into operation in the Defense Forces, including a dozen and a half in 2025.

The UGVs perform a wide range of tasks, including assisting in assault and defense operations, reconnaissance, mining and demining, surveillance, logistics tasks, and evacuation.
