Ukrainian Navy’s Angel Detachment Rescue Family of Ukrainian Servicemember From Occupied Territory

The Angels Special Forces Detachment of the Ukrainian Navy carried out a special operation and rescued the family of a Ukrainian servicemember from occupied territory.

The Ukrainian Navy announced the operation.

The evacuated couple are the parents of an officer serving in the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

Throughout the occupation, the civilians remained under constant threat.

They were unable to leave on their own because they were under constant surveillance by Russia’s Federal Security Service. The Russian authorities subjected them to ongoing psychological pressure and repeatedly searched their home in an attempt to pressure their son, a Ukrainian officer.

The Angels Detachment is a specialised unit of the Ukrainian Navy that conducts complex, high-risk rescue and evacuation missions in occupied territories. To date, its operatives have successfully evacuated dozens of civilians, wounded people and military personnel from occupied areas.

The Ukrainian Navy also recalled that in April, the special operations unit evacuated a man from the Russian-occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region who had been assisting the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

He helped rescue Ukrainian service members and provided valuable intelligence.
