Ukrainian intelligence officers demonstrated the combat operation of FPV kamikaze drones

The Defence Intelligence of Ukraine has developed its own fleet of FPV kamikaze drones.

These drones are already destroying the military equipment of the Russian invaders.

Kamikaze drones are controlled by the operators of the Ukrainian special detachment “Kryla” (“Wings” – ed.). The press service of the DI published a video of the combat operation.

The released video recorded the results of the work of the FPV drone pilots.

The recording captured the destruction of the invaders’ armored vehicle, which was standing in a forest plantation on one of the frontline directions of the Russian-Ukrainian war. After the hit, the vehicle caught fire and probably suffered serious damage, which put it out of service.

The Ukrainian reconnaissance drone was observing the operation of the FPV kamikaze drones and confirmed the successful destruction of a Russian armored vehicle.

“We destroy the invaders and liberate our country from the aggressors,” the DI noted in their message.

Back in January 2023, the DI announced the creation of its own fleet of FPV kamikaze drones. At that time, fundraising to purchase 1000 drones for the newly launched detachment was started.

The FPV (First Person View) drone is operated by an operator who receives real-time video broadcast from a drone camera to goggles or a helmet. Drones can collect intelligence data. These redesigned drones are also used as guided loitering munition. Such drones are used to defeat military equipment and enemy manpower, depending on the payload.

Installed cameras and modern communication capacities allow the operator to control the drone and, at the same time, remain at a safe distance.

In Ukraine, shrapnel ammunition to be dropped from FPV drones was developed. The new munition has a mechanical nose pin. The diameter of the hull is 63mm, and its weight in a fully assembled form is 800 grams.

This type of ammunition is designed to defeat enemy manpower. The ammunition contains striking elements similar to steel balls inside.
