Ukrainian EW System From Unwave Participated in Drone Dominance Tests in USA

Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) manufacturer Unwave participated in trials as part of the Drone Dominance program at Fort Carson in Colorado, USA.

Following its participation, the company received a request from the U.S. side to continue supporting the program’s activities, Unwave told Militarnyi. Drone Dominance calls for the Pentagon to procure more than 200,000 drones by 2027.

The tests took place from August 24 to September 2, with the participation of 14 drone manufacturers and 3 electronic warfare system developers.

The main goal of the Ukrainian developers’ participation was to create conditions as close as possible to a real battlefield to test the drones’ resilience.

As part of the training, Unwave presented four of its own electronic warfare systems.

The first system presented was the Vikha tactical-operational complex, which operates in the 300 MHz–3.2 GHz band with a power output of over 100 W and provides a range of over 300 meters.

To protect personnel and positions from FPV drones and explosive payloads, Unwave demonstrated the Boombox system. This multi-channel portable electronic warfare system, weighing 11–25 kg, operates in the 0.4–1, 1.9–2.7, and 5.8 GHz bands, providing a protective coverage radius of 50 meters.

The company also presented the Shatro system, developed specifically for installation on vehicles and military equipment. It has a channel power of 50–100 watts and covers the 0.2–5.8 GHz frequency ranges.

The fourth model was Choven-2, which suppresses FPV drones within a radius of 70 meters and Mavic quadcopters from 50 meters.

It is worth noting that Unwave’s electronic warfare system was the only one capable of jamming a drone during the NATO Baltic Trust 26 exercises in Latvia.

The exercise marked the final stage of NATO’s program to test UAV countermeasure systems.

Thanks to its successful performance in countering drones, the Ukrainian system received a special commendation from the exercise organizers.
