Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Forces Hit Bastion Coastal Missile System in Crimea

Soldiers of the Group 13 unit of Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence have hit a Bastion coastal missile system in Crimea.

The agency reported this on social media.

The missile system was hit at the Object 100 site in the area of Biller Ridge.

Group 13 operators also destroyed and hit two fuel trucks and a command-and-staff vehicle belonging to the occupiers on the peninsula.

Previously, during the night of August 16, Ukrainian Navy units struck the same launch positions and the deployment site of the Bastion coastal missile system in temporarily occupied Crimea.

The Bastion system is designed to engage surface ships, but Russia uses it to strike ground targets in Ukraine with P-800 Oniks missiles.

The main threat posed by these anti-ship missiles is their supersonic speed and ability to fly at ultra-low altitudes for up to 300 kilometers, making them difficult targets to intercept.

The system’s self-propelled launcher is based on the MZKT-7930 chassis and is armed with two missiles in transport-launch containers.

In February, the Defense Forces hit the concentration area of Russia’s 15th Separate Coastal Missile Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet in occupied Crimea, which is equipped with Bastion missile systems.

During the night of March 24, Ukrainian units struck Russian military targets, including a Bastion coastal missile system launcher near the settlement of Aktachi in occupied Crimea.

On April 8, Ukrainian forces struck the deployment area of a Bastion coastal missile system near Sofiivka in Crimea.
