The Ukrainian company Frontline, together with the Estonian robotics manufacturer Milrem Robotics, has successfully integrated the Burya grenade launcher turret onto the THeMIS tracked drone.
This was reported to Militarnyi by the Ukrainian defense tech company.
The effectiveness of the integration was confirmed during test firing trials in Ukraine.
The robotic Buria turret, equipped with a 40 mm automatic Mk 19 grenade launcher and mounted on THeMIS, demonstrated stable operation and accurate target engagement at distances exceeding 1,100 meters.
A series of additional tests are planned in the coming weeks to further validate the system’s combat readiness and assess its reliability across various operational scenarios.
The next step will be integrating the system into active mission planning scenarios, as well as adapting the solutions to specific battlefield tasks for further scaling.
The THeMIS ground drone became the first of its class to be deployed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine for combat missions.
The Buria robotic turret system has been in service with military units since January 2025 and is produced serially.
It has already been integrated into combat support units through a specially developed training program to ensure effective use of the system on the frontline.
Frontline emphasized that the integration of their turret with the Milrem Robotics ground drone was important not only for its technical achievement but also as another example of successful collaboration between Ukrainian and European miltech manufacturers.
The Buria turret allows for more efficient grenade launcher zeroing compared to a standard tripod and can engage multiple targets, quickly retargeting within seconds upon the operator’s command.
The system is remotely controlled by the operator using a control panel or laptop. For firing, it is sufficient to designate a point on the map or enter coordinates.
