On March 15, 2025, a new unit was established on the basis of an existing anti-aircraft missile and artillery division — the 1027th Anti-Aircraft Missile and Artillery Regiment.
The regiment announced its formation on its official Facebook page.
It is now part of the air defense component of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The 1027th Regiment is tasked with protecting critical infrastructure, covering areas at risk of missile attacks, and providing air defense for Ukrainian troops in combat zones.
Previously, the formation was subordinated to the 101st Guard Brigade of the General Staff.
As of today, the units of the 1027th Regiment have officially reported on destroying 323 enemy aerial targets.
These include three Su-25 attack aircraft, one Ka-52 attack helicopter, and 36 cruise missiles, including the Kh-101, Kh-55, Kh-555, Kh-59, Kh-69, and Kalibr types.
The regiment has also downed 229 attack drones, including the Shahed-131/136, Geran-2, Gerbera, and Lancet models.
In addition, it has intercepted 58 reconnaissance and small strike drones, such as Orlan (various modifications), SuperCam, Zala, Granat, and kamikaze drones including Molniya, Molniya-2, and Privet-82.
Photos published by the regiment show that it is equipped with Gepard self-propelled anti-aircraft guns.
In April 2025, the Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) announced the formation of a specialized unit, Darknode, tasked with intercepting attack drones.
By the end of the month, the unit reported on shooting down 52 Shahed-136 drones using advanced air defense tools.
For security reasons, the USF has not disclosed technical details or tactics employed during operations. However, it emphasized that Darknode was continually expanding its operational capabilities and scaling up the deployment of existing technologies.
