The British Ministry of Defense has confirmed that all the promised Challenger 2 tanks are now on the territory of Ukraine.

The Secretary of State for Defense Ben Wallace made the corresponding announcement during a speech in Parliament.

The UK provided the Armed Forces of Ukraine with 14 of its main battle tanks as defensive support against the Russian invasion and to liberate the temporarily occupied territories from the invaders.

“I know that all our tanks (Challenger 2 – Ed.) have gone into the country, many of our spare parts, many of our armored vehicles. They have trained and exercised both in the UK, but then in Ukraine. And I know that Ukrainian force is using them,” said Ben Wallace.

As previously reported, in January the British government decided to transfer 14 Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine.

Already at the end of January, Ukrainian tank crews arrived in the UK to begin training in the Challenger 2 tank operation.

At the end of March, the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine completed training on Challenger 2 tanks in the United Kingdom.

And already in the morning, on March 28, the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Oleksii Reznikov published a video featuring British tanks in Ukraine.

The Minister noted that Challenger 2 tanks had recently arrived in Ukraine from the UK. He added that the tanks would soon start performing combat tasks.

The Challenger 2 is a third-generation British main battle tank. It was designed and constructed by the British company Vickers Defence Systems. It is in service with the militaries of the United Kingdom and Oman.

The Challenger 2 is equipped with a 120-millimeter 55-caliber-long L30A1 tank gun. The tank has a modern fire control system. The aiming cycle lasts only 8 seconds. The ammunition of the 120-mm gun has sub-caliber armor-piercing, fin-stabilized, discarding sabot projectiles and high-explosive, as well as smoke and training shots.

Additional armament includes a L94A1 7.62mm coaxial machine gun. At the commander hatch, a remotely controlled L37A2 7.62 mm machine gun is installed on the turret.
