The military has received a batch of high-explosive anti-tank mines produced in 2025 with a new electromechanical fuze.

The Ukrainian military posted a video of the new engineered ammunition online.

The new anti-tank mines structurally repeat one of the most common Soviet mines of the Russian-Ukrainian war, namely the TM-62 in a metal case. The weight of such a munition ranges between 9.5 and 10 kilograms, of which about 7.2 kilograms is accounted for by explosives.

The original Soviet mine is fitted with TNT or a more powerful TNT-hexogen mixture, TG-40, but the filler of the Ukrainian mine is unknown. Given the shortage of explosives, they could have been fitted with a weaker “mobilization” TNT-ammonium mixture used in artillery ammunition.

The body of the Ukrainian mine has undergone minor modifications, including the addition of a side thread for an extra fuze, which is used to prevent deactivation after deployment.

An important update is the newly designed Ukrainian electromechanical fuze MPEM-1, which has only just been noticed.

The outer casing of the device is made of molded plastic, while the internal plastic components are printed on a 3D printer. Inside, you can see the mechanical elements that ensure the initiation of the munition when pressed.

In addition, a battery can be spotted in the case to power an unknown device. This could be an electromagnetic field sensor for detonation under the bottom of the vehicle or a design similar to the electromechanical fuses of the MVD-62, which are activated only by double pressing.

A year ago, Militarnyi reported that the Ukrainian industry had developed analogs of Soviet anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, including a copy of the Soviet TM-62. However, at that time, it was made in a plastic case and equipped with a copy of the MVCH-62 mechanical initiator.

In addition to these, the publication’s correspondents were then presented with a domestic version of the Soviet anti-personnel mine, the MON-50, called the VNP-50. This is a directed-action munition that targets the 54-degree sector with a directed stream of fragments.

Also demonstrated were plastic analogs of the Soviet anti-personnel mines MON-100 and MON-200, designed to destroy infantry, but in practice, there are cases of damage even to armored vehicles.

When exploded, these mines form a narrow beam of directed fragmentation with a kill zone of 160 to 200 meters in length and up to 6-9 meters in diameter.
