The manufacturer of attack aircraft responded to the conversation in the Oval Office between the presidents of the United States and South Africa.

The meeting between Donald Trump and Cyril Ramaphosa took place on Wednesday, Anadolu reports.

The South African president joked with Trump, saying he did not have a plane to give him as a tribute to the American leader.

“Sorry, I don’t have a plane to give you,” Ramaphosa said in the Oval Office.

“I wish you did. I’d take it,” said Trump. “If your country offered the United States Air Force a plane, I would take it,” the media reports.

And on the morning of May 22, Paramount posted the following message on its website:

“Yes, South Africa has a plane for President Trump! The Mwari (Bronco II) is the world’s most advanced light attack & recon aircraft, proudly built by South Africans. Ready for US Air Force and US Special Operations Command co-production. South Africa needs the US, and the US needs South Africa. Let’s lead the way in innovation!”

The exchange between Ramaphosa and Trump took place amid Qatar’s gift of a Boeing 747 worth several hundred million dollars to Trump.

Its receipt raised questions of ethics and legality among both Republicans and Democrats.

The Pentagon confirmed on Wednesday that it had officially accepted the aircraft and instructed the US Air Force to modernize it to make it the new presidential aircraft (Air Force One).

During a meeting in the Oval Office, NBC News reporter Peter Alexander asked Trump about the Pentagon’s acceptance of the aircraft.

The question angered Trump, who called the journalist an “idiot.”

“You are a real, you know, you’re a terrible reporter. Number one, you don’t have what it takes to be a reporter, not smart enough,” Trump said, according to Anadolu.

The Mwari (Bronco II) aircraft from Paramount Group is designed for ground target engagement, aerial reconnaissance, and combat support for ground operations. It has a maximum speed of 500 km/h and can use short runways. The Mwari has six suspension points for missiles and bombs. The aircraft is also equipped with electro-optical sensors for reconnaissance missions. The maximum payload is 800 kg.
