Slovakia will be repairing Ukrainian military equipment

Ukrainian armored vehicles will be repaired and modernized at the facilities in Slovakia.

Jaroslav Nad, Minister of Defense of Slovakia announced this on Tuesday, May 3.

Konstrukta Defence, a Slovak defense industry company, has signed a respective contract with Ukraine.

The first repair batch will consist of dozens of BRDM-2 amphibious armored scout cars.

The military equipment of Ukraine will be repaired and modernized at the enterprise’s facilities, shared Jaroslav Nad, Slovak Defense Minister.

“Glad to share that Slovak defense industry company Konstrukta Defence is starting to repair and modernize military equipment of Ukraine.

Dozens of BRDM-2 armored vehicles will be included in the first order,” Nad wrote on Twitter.

Early in April, it was announced that Ukraine has called on the Czech Republic and Slovakia to assist in repairing its military equipment that was damaged during fighting against the Russian invasion.

This information was confirmed by the defense agencies of both countries.

Jaroslav Nad, Slovak Defense Minister, told reporters that Slovakia was also addressed and that the repairs would be conducted by the private companies.

On April 8th, Eduard Heger, Prime Minister of Slovakia, confirmed the information about transferring the S-300PMU air defense system, which was in his country’s arsenal, to Ukraine.

Thus, Slovakia became the first NATO country to supply Ukraine with heavy air defense systems to combat Russian invaders.
