A Russian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone hit a multi-story residential building in Belgorod.

The Pepel Telegram channel published the video of the attack.

On November 5, a strike drone hit a residential building on Kashtanova Street in Belgorod, injuring two people. The Russian governor of the region then blamed the Ukrainian military.

However, the Pepel Telegram channel studied the surveillance video from a neighboring house, which showed a shot of a Shahed-136 drone used by Russia to strike at Ukrainian territory.

Only this strike drone has a fuselage shape with a distinctive nose and triangular wings with blunt ends, which are clearly visible in the footage.

The fact that it was a Russian drone is also evidenced by the direction of its flight: it was moving from the conventionally “Russian” side toward the border with Ukraine.

This is also confirmed by a comparable timeframe for the massive flight of Russian strike drones over the adjacent Kharkiv region of Ukraine.

The reasons for the Russian drone’s deviation are not known. A possible explanation could be a malfunction in the control system or incorrect data entered into the drone’s flight program.

Also, in one of the eyewitness videos, a black cloud from the explosion can be seen in the sky near the drone, which may indicate that the drone was shot down directly over the city by the Russian Air Defense Forces. This is also evidenced by the sharp dive of the aircraft.

Russian strikes on Belgorod

Belgorod is a long-suffering city that has survived more than one attack by its own troops: Russian bombers constantly launch gliding bombs with the UMPK kit, some of which periodically malfunction and fall on the territory of the region.

One of the most striking episodes was the dropping of two 500-kilogram bombs on the city by a Russian bomber in April 2023. As well as the destruction of the entire entrance of an apartment building in April of this year.

The average number of “accidental” air strikes on Russian territory by Russian troops ranges from 10-15 episodes per month and depends on the activity of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
