Russians start trying to force the Dnipro River near Kherson

Russian units in the Kherson sector attempted to cross the Dnipro River to form a new bridgehead.

Hromadske media outlet reported on this with reference to Vladyslav Voloshyn, a spokesman for the Southern Defense Forces.

According to Voloshyn, on December 20, the Russians fired artillery at some areas near the Dnipro River with cannon and rocket artillery, as well as directly at the city of Kherson.

During the artillery shelling, the enemy attempted to cross a sabotage and reconnaissance group that was supposed to pass near the Antonivka bridge towards the city.

Thanks to the prompt actions of the Defense Forces, the enemy was spotted and eliminated before reaching the middle of the river. Nevertheless, the enemy is also attempting to cross the river in other areas.

According to Vladyslav Voloshyn, the enemy is actively attempting to advance in the Kozatske area.

Also, Russians have been trying to land on Velykyi Potemkin Island for several days in a row. In addition, the invaders have been attempting to penetrate the island of Zabych for almost a week.

According to DeepState, the enemy is also attempting to seize islands 46.72950714675161, 33.04756164550782 in the direction of the village of Ivanivka, located on the right bank.

Serhiy Bratchuk, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Volunteer Army “South,” reported that there is no river crossing.

The Russian military is conducting reconnaissance and trying to storm the islands at the mouth of the Dnipro to gain more favorable positions for further attempts to get to the right-bank part of the Kherson region.

Russian propagandists, such as Fighterbomber (Ilya Tumanov), who posted on his Telegram channel, also voiced information about the attempts to force the Dnipro River.

According to him, the Russian command is throwing the military into suicidal attempts to force the Dnipro and will probably attempt to capture it before the new year at Putin’s whim.

Militarnyi previously reported that the Ukrainian Air Force hit a Russian command post on the left bank of the Dnipro River with GBU-39 bombs.
