The Ukrainian Sargan-3000 naval drone caused significant damage to the Russian patrol ship Izumrud, creating a large hole in its hull.
The damage is confirmed by a satellite image published by the Ukrainian Navy.
The image shows the damaged Russian ship near the quay wall in the port of Gelendzhik.
A large hole is clearly visible on the starboard side.
Izumrud was one of Russia’s border guard ships and has repeatedly appeared in events related to Russian aggression against Ukraine.
In particular, on November 25, 2018, the ship participated in an attack on Ukrainian Navy vessels during the incident in the Kerch Strait.
Izumrud rammed the Ukrainian raid tug Yany Kapu.
The ship was built at the Almaz shipyard in St. Petersburg and launched in August 2013.
Izumrud joined the Coast Guard of the so-called “Border Department of the Russian Federal Security Service in Crimea” on May 1, 2015.
The Izumrud patrol ship was equipped with a helicopter pad and measured 62.5 meters in length.
The ship had a displacement of approximately 630-750 tons and a maximum speed of up to 27 knots, or about 50 km/h.
The Sargan-3000, which damaged the ship, is a Ukrainian multipurpose naval unmanned combat system publicly presented as a platform that has been tested and adopted by the Ukrainian Navy.
