Russian forces entered the border village of Hrabovske in the Krasnopil community of Ukraine’s Sumy region and moved approximately 50 residents to Russia. The residents had previously refused to evacuate to other parts of Ukraine.
Kordon.Media reported this, citing its own sources.
According to Volodymyr Babich, Deputy Head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, the invaders conducted the operation during the night of December 20, exploiting the village’s close proximity to the state border to seize it quickly.
According to available information, the abducted civilians were taken to Russia to undergo so-called “filtration procedures.”
According to local residents, Russian units continued advancing deeper into the border area toward the Vysokyi hamlet and the village of Riasne. As of the evening of December 20, the presence of enemy infantry had already been confirmed in Riasne.
In this settlement, local authorities, together with the White Angels unit and Red Cross specialists, organized an urgent evacuation.
Despite the critical danger and the direct presence of enemy forces, only about a quarter of the residents agreed to leave the combat zone, while the rest of the civilians remained in the village.
