Netherlands To Allocate €10 Million for Ukrainian Military Personnel Training

The Netherlands will allocate €10 million to support the operations of training centers for Ukrainian military personnel.

This was announced on September 28 by Dutch Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Dilan Yesilgöz-Zegerius on the sidelines of a meeting of the EU Council of Defense Ministers, according to European Pravda.

According to her, the funds will be directed specifically toward training Ukrainian military personnel at training centers located in Ukraine.

“We will announce today that we are allocating €10 million for training centers in Ukraine,” Yeşilgöz-Zegerius stated.

The Netherlands has already funded the training of Ukrainian military personnel. According to the minister, these funds have been used to train nearly 100,000 service members, particularly as part of the EU mission EUMAM.

Specifically, they conduct basic training, combat medic courses, and tank crew training.

Yesilgöz-Zegerus emphasized that high-quality training increases servicemembers’ chances of survival on the front lines. She noted that the new funding should make it possible to train a larger number of Ukrainian servicemembers.

In addition to funding training centers, the Netherlands is directly involved in training Ukrainian servicemembers.

Since 2022, their instructors have been working as part of Operation Interflex in the United Kingdom, and in 2026, the country will continue to send approximately 90 military personnel there for each rotation.

Separately, the Netherlands is participating in the training of Ukrainian F-16 pilots in Romania.

To this end, the country has provided 18 of its F-16s to the European Training Center and has also organized training for Ukrainian ground crew.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that European Union member states had agreed on the terms for allocating 6.6 billion euros from the European Peace Fund for military support to Ukraine.

Of this amount, 900 million euros will be allocated to fund the EU Mission to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
