A new Russian UMPB-5R guided aerial bomb has been found to have a 16-element CRPA antenna.

This was reported by a specialist and consultant in the field of military radio technology Serhii “FlashBeskrestnov.

Unlike Shahed, which uses Chinese antennas, this is a Russian antenna. Its appearance indicates that Russian engineers are actively working to increase the resistance of munitions to interference.

Information about the existence of such antennas came from intelligence earlier, but confirmation of their use has only now emerged.

The UMPB-5R itself is a jet-powered guided bomb capable of covering a distance of 100-150 km thanks to a Chinese engine.

The increase in the number of elements in the antennas indicates that Ukrainian electronic warfare does affect Russian munitions. At the same time, the enemy is trying to compensate for this impact by improving navigation systems.

To effectively counteract this, Ukraine needs to increase the number of electronic warfare sources, including both systems with circular antennas and directional systems.
