Lithuania has handed over heavy mortars for the needs of the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the fight against Russian aggression.

Militarnyi informs about this.

Arvydas Anusauskas, Lithuanian Defense Minister, told the media about the transfer of a batch of military assistance, BNS reports.

The number of weapons transferred is not specified, but the cost of all military assistance to Kyiv is estimated at tens of millions of euros.

“We have given Ukraine help in the form of heavy mortars. I won’t name a number, but it is a sufficient amount,” Anusauskas told BNS.

According to him, not only Stinger man-portable air-defense systems have already been transferred to Ukraine, but also other air defense systems, anti-tank weapons, ammunition, grenades, machine guns, communications equipment, etc.

“This is a regular event. A month ago, I calculated that there were approximately 35 positions of various types,” said the Lithuanian defense minister.

According to Arvydas Anusauskas, the residual value of all the assistance provided reaches tens of millions of euros, and the total might be 5 to 10 times higher.

It was previously reported that the Lithuanian Armed Forces is ready to start training Ukrainian instructors in the near future.

This regards training the Ukrainian servicemen to master the weapons that are available in Lithuania amid NATO members’ consideration of the possibility of providing Ukraine with more modern weapons.
