At the May 9 parade in Moscow, North Korean generals involved in the war against Ukraine were identified.
This was reported by the user koreadefenseblog on the Blue Sky network.
In total, five North Korean generals were identified, who were connected to both the intelligence and the General Staff of North Korea.
The first to be identified was the Deputy Chief of the General Staff, Colonel General Kim Yong Bok, who was the first among the North Korean delegation to shake hands with the Russian president.
He is also the head of the 11th Assault Corps of the Korean People’s Army, which houses a significant part of the special forces that are also involved in the war against Ukraine.
The second identified North Korean representative was Colonel General Lee Chang-ho, Chief of the DPRK’s Reconnaissance General Bureau, whose troops were also deployed in Russia for the war against Ukraine.
According to the author of the blog, intelligence troops are deployed in every battalion and ensure the maintenance of morale and belief in the necessity of war against South Korea.
The third was a lieutenant general, the head of the Ministry of National Defense of North Korea, whose name and surname could not be determined.
Two other North Korean generals are associated with the General Staff Operations Bureau. The first is the head of the 525th Expeditionary Military Intelligence Brigade, which is responsible for conducting sabotage and reconnaissance activities aimed at eliminating the South Korean government.
The second representative of the General Staff Department of the Korean People’s Army and the last general at the parade was Major General Shin Gim-chol. According to Ukrainian intelligence, he is responsible for the deployment and command of North Korean troops in the war against Ukraine.
In addition, the author of the blog noted that three of the five North Korean generals were identified by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate back in November 2024, and their names were used in Ukraine’s report to the UN.
Despite Russia’s initial denial, this information has now been fully confirmed.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that North Korea had announced the completion of the operation to liberate the Kursk region, which was launched on the orders of Kim Jong Un.
According to the publication, it was the North Korean head of state who decided to send troops to Russia, having notified the Russian government.
