In Russia, the building of the Defence Ministry’s Research Institute is on fire

In the city of Tver, the main building of the 2nd Central Research Institute of the Russian Ministry of Defence is burning.

Many firefighters are working at the scene, and according to local media, people have been evacuated from the building.

The fire broke out on the morning of Thursday, April 21.

This Institute focuses on the development of anti-aircraft and air and space defense weapons, navigation devices, and control, guidance, and orientation systems for ground, airborne, and space equipment.

The blaze started in one of the closed offices on the second floor, the fire quickly extended and spread to the third and fourth floors. Flames quickly spread throughout the building.

The fire was assessed at the second level of difficulty.

20 people were injured in the fire at the Research Institute.

Two people were reported killed in a fire in Tver, while one person is missing.

This Russian military facility participated, in particular, in the development of the Iskander mobile ground-based operational-tactical missile system, which continues to fire missiles at Ukraine.
