Germany, the United Kingdom, France and the United States have lifted restrictions on the use of long-range weapons supplied to Ukraine.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated this in an interview with WDR television.
According to Merz, there are no longer any limitations on how Ukraine can use weapons provided by the four countries.
“Ukraine can now defend itself, for example, by striking military positions on Russian territory. Until a certain point, it could not do so,” he said.
Similar claims were reported on November 17 by Le Figaro, which stated that the French and British governments had authorized Ukrainian forces to strike Russian territory using SCALP/Storm Shadow cruise missiles.
However, by November 18, the references to such authorization had been removed from Le Figaro’s article, raising questions about the accuracy of the initial report or whether the information had been edited for confidentiality.
Subsequent reports have indicated that SCALP/Storm Shadow missiles had been used in strikes on targets inside Russia, including the facilities linked to the defense industry.
On December 18, for instance, the FSE “Kamensky ‘Combine’” plant in the Rostov region in Russia was reportedly hit.
