A fire broke out overnight on July 7 at the Linear Production Department of Main Gas Pipelines in the Russian city of Belgorod following a missile strike.
Astra reported the incident, while the Exilenova+ Telegram channel published videos from the scene.
The facility is responsible for operating the region’s main gas pipelines and supplying natural gas to consumers in Belgorod and the surrounding area.
The Linear Production Department of Main Gas Pipelines is a branch of Gazprom Transgaz Moscow LLC, a subsidiary of PJSC Gazprom.
Residents living near the facility reported seeing gas burning at several locations simultaneously from their windows.
The acting governor of the Belgorod region confirmed the missile strike, stating that a fire had broken out at one of the city’s facilities and that firefighters were working to extinguish it.
“…The energy infrastructure has once again been damaged, resulting in power and water supply disruptions in parts of Belgorod and several surrounding municipalities…” he wrote on Telegram.
Overall, residents of Belgorod and the surrounding region reported hearing numerous explosions throughout the night, according to social media posts.
Shortly after midnight, the local Telegram channel Pepel ➜ Belgorod reported that the airport had also come under a missile strike.
A major fire broke out on the airport grounds. According to preliminary reports, fuel storage tanks caught fire.
On the morning of July 3, the Ukrainian Defense Forces launched a missile strike on an electrical substation located on the grounds of the Michurinskaya Combined Heat and Power Plant in Belgorod.
The strike sparked a fire at the facility. Residents subsequently reported power and water outages in several parts of the city.
