Explosion Hits Central Asia–Center Gas Pipeline in Southern Russia

An explosion occurred on the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline in Russia’s Volgograd region on August 2, halting gas transportation indefinitely.

The blast, reported to Militarnyi by the security services sources, took place near the village of Dinamovskoye in the Nekhayevsky district. Emergency repair crews have been dispatched to the site.

Following the explosion, residents heard a loud roar, likely caused by pipeline depressurization and gas ignition.

The Central Asia-Center pipeline, operated by Russian state-owned energy company Gazprom, transports natural gas from Turkmenistan through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to Russia.

The pipeline is known to supply energy to several sensitive facilities in Russia’s defense industry, including the Demikhov Machine-Building Plant, the MiG aircraft manufacturing facility, and the Magnum-K ammunition plant.

The disruption may affect the operations of these enterprises, although there has been no official confirmation of any shutdowns.

The explosion came the same day as strike drones targeted oil refineries in Ryazan and Novokuibyshevsk, both located in the Samara region.
