On the evening of October 2nd, an explosion occurred at the Azot branch of JSC Uralchem in Perm Krai, which produces components for explosives.
Photos from the scene were published by the Telegram channel Exilenova+.
The released images show smoke rising from the facility after the explosion – suggesting that a fire may have broken out at the site.
The facility is located in the city of Berezniki, approximately 1,600 km from the state border of Ukraine.
The Azot enterprise is one of the largest producers of nitrogen fertilizers in Russia.
Its products include ammonia, urea, ammonium nitrate, and other dual-use chemical compounds – for agriculture and the production of explosives. In 2024, Uralchem reached record levels – producing over 2.3 million tons of products.
The defense forces have previously struck Azot plants in various regions of Russia.
For example, in June 2025, Ukrainian drones attacked the Azot chemical plant in the Tula region.
Immediately after the explosions on the facility’s territory, a fire broke out, which was recorded by local residents.
According to eyewitness reports, between five and eight powerful explosions were heard. The governor of the Tula region also reported the fire at the site of the Novomoskovsk Joint-Stock Company ‘Azot,’ noting that it was caused by the fall of drone debris.
Also, during the night of August 16th, strike drones targeted the Nevinnomyssk Azot chemical plant in Russia’s Stavropol Krai.
According to local residents, they heard 9 to 10 explosions and noticed a fire in the area of the facility.
