The European Union will allocate €20 million in military assistance to Armenia.

The decision was approved on Wednesday, January 28, by ambassadors of EU member states, according to Rikard Jozwiak, Europe editor at Radio Svoboda, who cited his sources.

This funding represents the largest non-lethal military assistance package ever provided to Yerevan under the European Peace Facility.

“Today, EU ambassadors approved the largest non-lethal military aid package for Armenia to date – €20 million – under the European Peace Facility,” Jozwiak said.

The journalist noted that this step is a sign of Armenia’s gradual rapprochement with the European Union.

n 2024, the EU for the first time allocated €10 million to Armenia for non-lethal military assistance under the European Peace Facility.

The aim of this support was to strengthen the logistical and material capabilities of the Armenian army and to help improve the protection of civilians in crisis and emergency situations.

The assistance was also intended to enhance Armenia’s resilience and ensure the interoperability of its armed forces in the event of the country’s possible future participation in international military missions and operations, including those deployed by the European Union.
