Attack drones of the Ukrainian Defense Forces have attacked substations in the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea.
This is evidenced by the NASA FIRMS monitoring service, which recorded elevated temperatures at several substations, according to the Telegram channel Crimean Wind.
The 220/35/10 kV Yani Kapu substation in Yani Kapu was attacked, as well as the 220 kV Titan substation near Armiansk. These substations play a crucial role in the electrification of the peninsula and the enterprises located there.
For instance, Yani Kapu is a key energy infrastructure facility in northern Crimea (Coordinates 45.97191587356244, 33.78936085806126), which provides electricity to the cities of Yany-Kapu and Armiansk, the surrounding areas, and industrial facilities.
According to the FIRMS monitoring service, a fire on the substation’s premises was reported at 4:00 a.m. However, as noted by the Telegram channel Crimean Wind, the city was without power from 2:09 a.m. to 3:40 a.m.
The substation itself is located next to the Perekop Bromine Plant—a chemical enterprise that has long served the defense industry.
Another substation targeted was the 220 kV Titan substation (Coordinates 46.19892998074738, 33.66581655057852), which got its name because of its location next to the Crimean Titan plant—one of the largest chemical enterprises in Crimea.
As noted by Crimean Wind, the 220 kV Titan substation served as the main link for power transmission from Ukraine (via the Kakhovka–Titan line).
After its integration into the Russian power grid, the substation was modernized, and to enhance reliability, measures were implemented to connect it via a power line to the 330 kV Dzhankoy substation.
It is worth noting that these strikes are aimed at undermining the capabilities of Russian forces in occupied Crimea, as well as disrupting the operations of enterprises that the enemy uses for its own purposes, in particular to support its own defense-industrial complex.
Earlier, Militarnyi reported that on the night of June 7–8, strike drones of the Ukrainian Defense Forces attacked the 220 kV Alchevsk substation in occupied Alchevsk of the Luhansk region.
This substation supplies power to the city of Alchevsk and the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant and serves as the main distribution hub with a capacity of 500 MVA.
